Location: The Ilikai is located right off the beach on the very west side of Waikiki and is in walking distance of everything including great restaurants and some high quality shopping. With it's own beachfront access, the view from the oceanview rooms is breathtaking. The north facing rooms enjoy beautiful sunsets, while the south facing rooms great ocean views and the Hilton Hawaiian Village fireworks show every Friday night. While the Ilikai actually fronts the Ali Wai Yacht Harbor, there is a short walkway that leads to the Duke Kahanamoku Lagoon that is shared with the Hilton Hawaiian Village. Beyond the lagoon one reaches Waikiki beach by following the train around the lagoon. From there, the Waikiki Beachwalk will take visitors into the center of Waikiki and more beaches. The Ilikai's location is a great choice for just about everyone visiting Waikiki that does not want to be in the very heart of Waikiki's action zone, but wants to be close to everything Waikiki has to offer.
Here is a picture of the Ilikai taken from the beach side of the hotel. Note that the rooms to the tight side of the center wing are known as the "cool" rooms and on the left side, as the "hot rooms" This is because the "hot" rooms are treated to the afternoon sun and sunsets and the heat that goes with it.
The Ilikai is an excellent choice for those attending a convention at the convention center, yet still wanting to be on Waikiki Beach. With many restaurants and cultural events within walking distance (including the Ala Moana Shopping Center) the Ilikai is in an excellent location for a great vacation.
The Ilikai features a wonderful pool overlooking the Hilton Lagoon and Waikiki Beach. While the pool is excellent, there is no Jacuzzi and the shallow end of the pool is usually occupied by small children and everything that comes with it. You need to be a guest staying at the Ilikai to access the pool and there are a limited number of lounges (as you can see).
There are several shops within the Ilikai, but be aware they are all somewhat expensive for what they offer. There are also many vacant shops (2011) suggesting that biz isn't all that great for the shop keepers. General Information:
There are many options when it comes to choosing a room and they are sorted by view: City View
